Happy Fall

We have a number of new readers joining us, and I wanted to shout out a big, southern welcome. It’s great to have you on-board. Many responded to the GIVEAWAY campaign during October’s National Read-a-Book Month. The winner is announced at the end of this post along with a hint about the holiday GIVEAWAY.

With three novels that launched in the first half of 2019, some avid readers keep asking me when another one is coming. I wish I had an answer. One completed novel, True North, is in the hands of my agent.

Since completing True North, I’ve been working on a project that is very different for me. I’m in the final stages of my first time slip novel. If you’re unfamiliar with that term, it refers to dual timelines within one novel. When I told my husband, he excitedly thought it was a sci-fi time travel. No, that’s definitely not me. More creative minds write those. My time slip goes back and forth between a contemporary setting and the era of post-civil war reconstruction. Old journals lead my protagonist to discover a strong connection with the journal writer. It has been heart-wrenching to write and tearful at times. Prayers appreciated as I finish this project.

If you’ve read one of my novels, but haven’t posted a review, please consider doing so. Amazon and Goodreads become valuable resources for authors as the number of reviews grow. If you’re like me and are an early Christmas shopper (yes, I’ve already started), consider a gift of literature for someone on your list. As a former teacher, I can tell you that gifted books were always welcomed. Naturally, I hope you’ll choose one of mine, but let me give you a few other suggestions.

• Cathy Baker’s one-week vacation devotionals. Pauses for the Vacationing Soul. She’s written two sensory-based devotionals—one for the beach and one for a mountain vacation. They’re guaranteed to enrich your time away from home. While you’re at it, take a peek at her Little House on a Hill website. You’ll enjoy reading as she’s shared the project of building her tiny house step-by-step.
• Suzy Parish’s novel Flowers from Afghanistan. If you have someone who has served or is serving, you’ll appreciate her authentic details of life in that war-torn nation. She’s written a beautiful story of love, grief, and restoration amid the harshness.
• Barbara M. Britton’s novel Lioness. For those who enjoy biblical fiction, this author does it well. It’s my second of her books and I stand amazed at her ability to take me to a biblical land. Lioness is the first story in a series about of the daughters of Zelophehad (Numbers 27), a little known and briefly mentioned man from the tribe of Manasseh.

Speaking of holidays, stay tuned for my November blog and a new holiday GIVEAWAY titled The Twelve Days of Christmas.
